BOSTON, Mass. - Junior forward Maxine Muscatello (Berlin, Conn.) netted the lone goal to power the University of Saint Joseph (CT) over host Emmanuel College, 1-0, Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women’s soccer action at Roberto Clemente Field.

THE LEAD – Junior forward Maxine Muscatello (Berlin, Conn.) netted the lone goal to power the University of Saint Joseph (CT) over host Emmanuel College, 1-0, Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer action at Roberto Clemente Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following a relatively quiet 17 minutes of action that only saw one shot attempt by each team, the Blue Jays got on the board in what proved to be the only goal of the night to take a 1-0 lead at the 17:03 marker. Emmanuel's centerback was disposed in a dangerous area, allowing the ball to slide to the fee of Muscatello who dribbled around the second Emmanuel centerback before slotting home her second goal of the season.
- USJ held on to the 1-0 lead heading into the break as both side attempted just two shots in the stanza while the Blue Jays held a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks in the half.
- The Saints were unable to muster much offense in the second frame, attempting just one shot and one corner kick compared to six shot attempts by the Blue Jays.
- Sophomore Victoria Schaffner (Waterbury, Conn.) made the score hold up, making one save to improve to 4-0-1 on the year with the shutout.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Schaffner has not allowed a goal in 425 minutes this season and the Blue Jays lead the nation among D-III programs with a 0.00 GAA through six matches.
- Sophomore Lexi Della Rocco (Chester, Conn.) played well in defeat for Emmanuel, making three saves in the loss.

- Emmanuel returns to GNAC action on Saturday, September 25 when it travels to Weston, Mass. to face Regis College at 4:30 PM.
