HOW IT HAPPENED
After several opportunities to open the scoring early in the first half, Saints junior Megan McMillen (North Branford, Conn.) scored in the 27th minute to give Emmanuel a 1-0 lead.
McMillen was played in behind the Trailblazers defense on a perfectly timed pass by LeGault. The right-footed shot by McMillen found the far-side netting, giving the Saints the one-goal edge.
Back-to-back goals for Briscoe followed for the Saints, increasing their lead to 3-0, prior to halftime.
In the 35th minute, Briscoe ran in behind the defense on an over-the-top pass by junior Aoife Delaney (Weymouth, Mass.). Briscoe struck again in the 43rd minute on a similar goal, this time on a pass from senior Kennedy Davignon (Woodstock, Conn.), making it 3-0 Saints at the half.
LeGault scored her pair early in the second half, taking advantage of a loose ball in the 49th and 60th minutes, increasing the Emmanuel lead to 5-0.
The Trailblazers broke up the clean sheet in the 63rd minute on a penalty kick goal by senior Madeline Gibney (Rensselaer, N.Y.). Gibney fired her attempt into the left side of the goal in MCLAs first goal of the season.
Saints junior Sophia Chirigotis (Merrimac, Mass.) capped off the scoring in the 82nd minute, set up by a cutback to her left foot at the top of the penalty area. The left-footed strike snuck under the crossbar, as Emmanuel took home the 6-1 victory.
