HOW IT HAPPENED
Boivin's game-winning tally came in the 88th minute on a run down the right-wing of the field. After taking a touch around a Saints defender, Boivin found room inside the Seahawks offensive third.
Her run continued down near the right-side of the Saints penalty area as Boivin attempted a cross into the box. That cross became a shot on goal and snuck into the near side post and into the back of the net, giving Salve Regina the eventual 2-1 victory.
The Seahawks scored first, midway through the first half, breaking up a scoreless match to that point.
In the 22nd minute, a cross from the right corner was headed goal-ward by Seahawks sophomore Zoe Cox (Whitman, Mass.). That attempted was partially cleared by the Saints, but right back toward the penalty spot, in the area of Cox.
On the volley, Cox fired a right-footed shot back toward goal and into the left side of the net, giving Salve Regina a 1-0 lead.
The Saints got on the board just prior to halftime on the first career collegiate goal by first year forward Kaelyn Briscoe (Walpole, Mass.).
Emmanuel broke into the offensive third on a three-on-three rush as the ball eventually found the feet of first year Katherine Dufour (Middletown, R.I.).
From the top right corner of the penalty area, Dufour sent in a perfect cross to the back post, finding Briscoe on the open side of the goal, as the Saints tied things at 1-1 in the 42nd minute.
