Of Note:
Neither team could find the back of the net for most the first half. Deja Hursey's first shot attempted was blocked, but she collected the rebound and put it home for the only score of the game.
Johnson & Wales' defense was tough on Emmanuel in the first half as none of the Saints' six shots made it on frame. JWU outshot the Saints, 19-13, overall.
For EC, Gawron and junior back Kaylin Deschenes both left the game early in the second half due to injury and neither would return. The Saints defensive unit rallied together to keep the Wildcats scoreless in the second stanza but the JWU back four did the same keeping the Saints off the board for the first time all season.
JWU goalkeeper Colleen Lynch stopped all three shots she faced in the second half for her third shutout in four games. The New Milford, Conn. native has only allowed one goal in her last 352 minutes in between the pipes.
Next Game:
The Wildcats continue GNAC action Wednesday when they host Colby-Sawyer at 7:00 PM while the Saints play host to University of Saint Joseph (CT) the same night at 7:00 PM at Roberto Clemente Field in Boston, Mass.
