HOW IT HAPPENED
- Generis helped get the scoring started with a cross from the right side of the field to classmate Mikayla Guthrie (North Andover, Mass.) who trapped the ball before finishing for her fifth goal of the year to put the Saints ahead 1-0 at the 12:13 marker.
- The Mustangs answered less than 10 minutes later to tie the score at 1-1 on a goal by freshman Bailey Elliot (Tolland, Conn.). Elliot took a pass from senior Rachel Lambert (Lebanon, Conn.), splitting two defenders to chip home her team-leading sixth goal of the year 20:58 into the action.
- The score remained deadlocked at 1-1 heading into the halftime break with the only shot attempt in the half for the Mustangs finding the back of the net.
- Emmanuel junior midfielder Abba McKenelley (Middleton, Mass.) netted the game-winner just 2:53 into the second half for her fifth goal of the season. Sophomore forward Kaylin Deschenes (Lynn, Mass.) dropped a pass back for McKenelley who chipped the ball over Mount Ida junior keeper Kelsey Parkin (Standish, Maine) to make it a 2-1 game.
- Generis added an insurance tally with 1:20 left in regulation with a hustle goal, challenging a ball played back to Parkin with a tough tackle to win the ball and poke home her fifth goal of the campaign for the 3-1 final.
