STOCKTON STRIKES EARLY TO SINK SAINTS, 2-0
UNION, N.J. – Stockton University scored two first half goals to power past the Emmanuel College women’s soccer team, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in Day 2 action of the KU Labor Day Tournament at Kean Alumni Stadium. The Ospreys move to 1-1 on the weekend while the Saints head back to Boston with a 0-2 mark.

The Ospreys move to 1-1 on the weekend while the Saints head back to Boston with a 0-2 mark.
Stockton opened the afternoon's scoring with its' first goal of contest just 16:12 into the action. Senior Lindsey Thomas (Swedesboro, N.J.) cleaned up a loose ball in the Emmanuel box to find the back of the net to give SU the 1-0 cushion.
The scored stayed at 1-0 until the 41st minute of play when sophomore Michelle Sander (Ewing, N.J.) finished off a smooth pass across the box from junior Alexa Chiaro (Cherry Hill, N.J.) for her first goal of the year to give the Osprey a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Emmanuel came back out and played a strong second half to keep the game within striking distance. The Saints manufactured seven shots and two corner kicks in the frame with several goal-scoring opportunities through the stanza.
Despite the 2-0 result, the Saints back four played a very strong second half led by freshman Rachel Prevost (Tewksbury, Mass.) and sophomore Katharine O'Kane (Hanson, Mass.).
EC sophomore keeper Alexis Gawron (South Hadley, Mass.) was a standout between the pipes, stopping nine shots in the action including three breakaway opportunities to stymie the Osprey attack. Junior Nicole Pallante (Brick, N.J.) made four saves for SU to earn the shutout and improve to 1-1 on the campaign.
The Saints return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 5 when they head down the street to Colleges of the Fenway rival Wentworth Institute of Technology for a non-conference affair at Sweeney Field scheduled for a 7:00 PM kick off. Stockton returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 6 when it travels to Moravian College for a 7:00 PM affair.
