The game remained scoreless through the first 33 minutes of action before the host Profs got on the board first. Forward Maxine New (sr. Clayton, NJ/Clayton) started the scoring at 33:48 with a shot inside the box to the right side of the net to make it 1-0 after a cross by midfielder Sami Pagnani (so. Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown Reg.). Midfielder Shannon Walsh (jr. Linden, NJ/Linden) knocked in a pass from forward Shannon Reardigan (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) with 3:12 remaining in the half to account for a 2-0 halftime score. Rowan outshot the Saints 14-2 in the stanza while also owning a 4-0 advantage on corners.
In the second half, RU forward Cathryn McCarry (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) tallied the third goal (55:25) on a breakaway after a feed up the middle by back Emily Daigle (jr. Millville, NJ/Millville). Midfielder Lisa Cella (sr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) found the back of the net at 59:23 and New registered the assist to bump the lead to 4-0. Reardigan headed in midfielder Megan McKinley's (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) corner kick for the final tally with just under six minutes remaining in regulation to account for the 5-0 final.
Rowan goalkeeper Shelby Money (so. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) had three saves to earn the shutout win. For the Saints, goalies Victoria LaRoche (jr. Hudson, NH/Alvirne) and Alexis Gawron (fr. South Hadley, MA/South Hadley) combined for 10 saves.
The game was the collegiate debut for 19 freshman on the Emmanuel roster including freshman Natalie Dash (East Hampton, Conn.) who led the Saints with two shot attempts in the contest.
Emmanuel returns to the pitch tomorrow evening to take on York College (PA) at 5:00 PM in search of their first win in 2016.
