SAINTS CRUISE ON SENIOR DAY, TOP MOUNT IDA 5-0
BOSTON, Mass. – Senior forward Katelyn Fink (Sanford, Maine) scored two goals to power the Emmanuel College women’s soccer team past Mount Ida College, 5-0, Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Roberto Clemente Field. The win lifts the Saints to 9-8 overall and 7-2 in GNAC play while the Mustangs fall to 2-9-4 and 0-7-2 in the conference.

The win lifts the Saints to 9-8 overall and 7-2 in GNAC play while the Mustangs fall to 2-9-4 and 0-7-2 in the conference.
Fink started the scoring early, finding the back of the net just 1:49 into the action to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Following a direct kick into the Mustangs box, junior midfielder Maggie Carey (Swampscott, Mass.) went up and deflected the ball, finding Fink in the air. Fink headed home her fourth goal of the year.
During the 22nd minute of play, freshman midfielder Kayla Generis (Wethersfield, Conn.) made it 2-0 with her fourth goal of the year. Senior forward Molly Carey (Swampscott, Mass.) played a cross into traffic that Generis redirected on frame to beat Mount Ida freshman keeper Kelsey Parkin (Standish, Maine).
Following a 30 minute scoreless stretch, Molly Carey got into the scoring column with her fourth goal of the year in the 53rd minute. Molly received a ball off a throw in from her sister, and scored on a looping right footed shot from just inside the 18-yard box to give Emmanuel the 3-0 cushion.
Maggie Carey made it 4-0 with her fourth tally of the year at 64:51 with the help of an assist from junior Kali DiPilla (Sterling, Mass.) before Fink wrapped up the scoring with her second goal of the afternoon in the 80th minute, burying a feed from freshman Mikayla Guthrie (North Andover, Mass.).
EC sophomore goalkeeper Victoria LaRoche (Hudson, N.H.) made three saves to earn her ninth win of the year before being relieved by freshman Bethany Bonilla (Roslindale, Mass.) who made one save over the final 10 minutes to preserve the shutout.
Parkin ended the contest with 10 saves for the Mustangs.
Prior to the start of the match, the Emmanuel Athletic Department recognized nine members of the program during a "Senior Day" ceremony. The Saints honored team managers Anndie Vigneau, Tess McCarthy, Jenna Marcello along with Fink, Carey, Jess Dasilva (North Attleboro, Mass.), Maddie Barry (Inner Grove Heights, Minn.), Hannah Konicki (Milford, Conn.) and Ari Cardillo (Richmond, Mass.).
Emmanuel returns to action on Wednesday, October 21 when they host Saint Joseph's College (ME) at 7:00 PM in a key GNAC showdown while Mount Ida plays host to Lasell College the same day at 7:00 PM.
