SOCCER TEAMS SET FOR GNAC POST-SEASON PLAY
The Emmanuel College Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams have each earned post-season play-off bids. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament is set to begin this coming weekend with women’s quarterfinal action on Saturday and men’s quarterfinal games to be played on Sunday at the home sites of the highest seeds.

The Emmanuel women have earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will host a first round game this Saturday (Nov. 2) at Roberto Clemente Field. The Saints, who finished the regular season 9-7-3, 7-2-2 GNAC, will host No. 5 University of Saint Joseph (CT) in a 1:00 PM kick-off. Just last week, these two teams battled to a 0-0 double-overtime stalemate on the Blue Jays' home field. The winner of this quarterfinal game will advance to the semifinals on Nov. 5 to take on the winner of No. 1 Lasell College/No. 8 Johnson & Wales University.

The Emmanuel men finished regular season conference play at 5-4 and have earned the No. 6 seed in the tournament. The Saints have one regular season non-conference game still to be played and Emmanuel will travel across the river to MIT for a 7:00 start this Wednesday night. The Saints will then head south to Providence, R.I. on Sunday (Nov. 3) for a quarterfinal match-up against the No. 3 Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University. During the regular season, Emmanuel suffered a 1-0 loss to the Wildcats at Clemente Field. The winner of this first round game will advance to the tournament semifinals on No. 6 to face the winner of No. 2 Saint Joseph's College (ME)/No. 7 Albertus Magnus College.

Both, the men's and women's GNAC Championship games will be played on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the home sites of the highest remaining seeds. The GNAC Championship team earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
