BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College freshman Courtney Freadman (Richmond, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week, after helping the Saints go 2-0 in last week's action. Freadman enjoyed a three-point week, as the Saints topped Emerson College, 2-0, and Simmons College, 2-1.
Freadman netted the second goal of her collegiate career in the Saints' 2-0 non-conference win at Emerson College last Tuesday night. Freadman's second-half marker was unassisted and proved to be an insurance goal in Emmanuel's shutout victory.
The rookie followed up that performance by assisting on the opening goal in the Saints' 2-1 win over the Sharks this past Saturday. Emmanuel's win over Simmons in this Colleges of the Fenway (COF) rivalry was the Saints' first victory over the Sharks since the 2010 season.
Freadman, a mid-fielder on the Emmanuel squad, has made appearances in all 11 games played and earned one start so far this season. She currently has a total of five points, coming off two goals and an assist. Freadman is third on the Saints in shots taken, attempting 25 shots over her 11 games played.
Freadman and the Saints (4-5-2) will be back in action this Wednesday afternoon, when they take on the defending GNAC champion Lasers of Lasell College in a 4:00 PM start in Newton, Mass.
