CARR SCORES TWICE BUT WOMEN'S LACROSSE UNABLE TO TOP NORWICH
April 6, 2011
Junior Logan Carr (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) notched two goals and senior Megan Clary (Woonsocket, R.I.) added a third but the women's lacrosse team dropped a 21-3 decision to Norwich University on Wednesday evening at Roberto Clemente Field in Boston, Mass. The Saints fell to 1-6 on the season while the Cadets improved to 4-1.
Norwich controlled the flow of play for the first half, notching all the goals in the frame. Freshman Grace Fitzpatrick (Falmouth, Maine) and junior Kacey Abbraino (Hicksville, N.Y.) tallied hat tricks in the period while junior Danielle Del Dotto (Andover, Mass.) scored twice. The Cadets held their lead and took a 13-0 edge into halftime.
The Cadets continued to hold on to the ball as the second period began. Junior Suzanne Whitaker (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored two for Norwich as the visitors extended their lead to 19-0.
The Saints did not give up, however, as Carr managed to find the back of the net at the 7:27 mark of the frame with Clary scoring just over a minute later. One more by Carr closed out the scoring for the hosts as Norwich claimed a 21-3 win.
Emmanuel freshman keeper Hillary Dandurant (Merrimac, Mass.) made eight saves for the game while junior Meghan Kennedy (Lowell, Mass.) tallied nine stops.
Emmanuel will host St. Joseph College (Conn.) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Roberto Clemente Field. The game will be preceded by Senior Day festivities, as the Saints will recognize Clary, Kristina Marik (Airmont, N.Y.), Megan Harrington (Leicester, Mass.) as the first senior class in the history of the program.
