First Years Power Women’s Lacrosse Past Lasell, 21-8
NEWTON, Mass. - Powered by five first year players, Emmanuel College used a mid-game surge to cruise past Lasell University, 21-8, on Wednesday afternoon in the regular-season finale in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women’s lacrosse action at Grellier Field. The Lasers end their season 2-14 overall and 2-11 in GNAC play. The Saints are 13-4 and 10-3.

THE LEAD – Powered by five first year players, Emmanuel College used a mid-game surge to cruise past Lasell University, 21-8, on Wednesday afternoon in the regular-season finale in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse action at Grellier Field. The Lasers end their season 2-14 overall and 2-11 in GNAC play. The Saints are 13-4 and 10-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Leading 5-4 with just under two minutes to play in the opening quarter, the Saints put together a 13-1 scoring surge over the next 20 minutes of action to build an 18-5 lead and pull away from the hosts.
- Emmanuel got out to an early 5-1 lead behind a pair of goals from first year Livia Fedele (Spencerport, N.Y.), with the Lasers getting a goal from Teresa Kessner. Lasell then ripped off three straight goals to make it 5-4. Those goals were scored by Kaitlin Bedell and Sam Jones, with Bedell scoring two of them.
- The The Saints then scored twice in the final 90 seconds of the quarter to take a 7-4 lead. The Saints took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Lasers 9-1, with the lone goal for Lasell coming from Teresa Kessner. The Saints led 16-5 at the half as first years Ella Marschitz (Naperville, Ill.), Brianna Stephenson (Waterboro, Maine) and Broghan Laundry (Swampscott, Mass.) all scored multiple goals in the quarter.
- EC outscored the Lasers in the third, 4-1 to bump the lead to 20-6 before the hosts outscored the Saints in the final frame, 2-1, to account for the 21-8 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Laundry led all players with four goals while Marschitz and Fedele chipped in with three goals and one assist each.
- Stephenson and first year Emily Gates (Waterford, Conn.) also recorded hat tricks in the win.
- Sophomore Deja Srimouksavanh (Portsmouth, N.H.) notched three points on a goal and two assists to record her 100th career point, becoming the 15th player to reach the milestone and second this season as Srimouksavanh joins Megan Steele (Auburn, Maine) who achieved the feat back on April 3 vs. Worcester State.
- EC senior Isabella Thomas (Miami, Fla.) picked up the win to improve to 10-4 on the year making a pair of saves.
- The Lasers were led by Teresa Kessner's three goals. Kaitlin Bedell led the team with five ground balls in addition to her two goals.
- The Lasers got a goal from Emily Chapdelaine to start off the fourth. Playing in her last career game, the goal marked the 100th career point for Chapdelaine, making her just the 16th player in school history to reach that mark.
- The Saints outshot the Lasers 38-18 in the win.

- The Saints move on the GNAC postseason play on Saturday, April 29 as the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Colby-Sawyer College at Roberto Clemente Field.
