THE LEAD – Emmanuel College opened a 10-goal halftime lead to cruise past Dean College, 18-10, Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action at Roberto Clemente Field in Boston, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED

- Senior Marie Brown (Huntington, N.Y.) got Dean on the board to start the second and cut the lead to 5-1 early in the second but over the final 14 minutes of the half, Emmanuel pulled away by outscoring the visitors by a 7-1 margin to take a 12-2 lead into halftime. Sophomore Deja Srimouksavanh (Portsmouth, N.H.) and first year Brianna Stephenson (Waterboro, Maine) each netted two in the frame while sophomore Abby Brown (Saco, Maine) tallied a man-down goal.
- Dean came out swinging in the third quarter and managed to outscore the Saints in the period, 3-1 behind two more goals from Brown and an unassisted marker by senior Jazzy Sztyler-Magee (Burlington, Conn.) to make it a 13-5 game heading into the final stanza.
- The Bulldogs made the hosts sweat to start the fourth as Sztyler-Magee and sophomore Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) each scored in the first minute of the quarter to pull Dean within six at 13-7 but the Saints got them back with markers from first year Avery Robillard (Rowley, Mass.) and Steele to bump the lead back to eight at 15-7 with 8:13 remaining.
- Brown & Magee refused to let the Bulldogs go quietly, scoring back-to-back markers in the 54th minute of action to move the mark to 15-9 with 5:11 left but EC thwarted any comeback bid with two goals in the 55th minute, both by Broghan Laundry (Swampscott, Mass.) moving Emmanuel ahead 17-9 with 3:34 remaining.
