Steele Joins 100 Point Club in Setback to Worcester State
WORCESTER, Mass. - Emmanuel College senior Megan Steele (Auburn, Maine) joined the 100 point club on Monday evening as Worcester State University shut down a potent Emmanuel College offensive in women’s lacrosse action, 14-5. The Lancers held EC to a season-low goal total in the non-conference decision at Coughlin Field in Worcester, Mass.

The Lancers held EC to a season-low goal total in the non-conference decision at Coughlin Field in Worcester, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints came into the game ranked second among NCAA Division III women's lacrosse programs averaging 19.33 goals per game but the Lancers held the visitors to just one goal in the first half, jumping out to a commanding 9-1 lead by halftime.
- The lone Emmanuel goal of the half came midway through the opening quarter as Steele finished a feed from sophomore Deja Srimouksavanh (Portsmouth, N.H.) to make it a 3-1 game with 8:51 left in the first to record her 100th career point.
- The Lancers held EC scoreless in the second, outscoring the Saints 6-0 in the frame to take the eight-goal lead into the break.
- WSU increased its advantage to 10-1 with the first score in the third before Emmanuel stopped the surge with back-to-back tallies by Steele to move the score to 10-3, with the third EC goal coming off an assist from reigning GNAC Rookie of the Week Ella Marschitz (Naperville, Ill.).
- Worcester State answered, netting the next three to regain control at 13-3 but the Saints closed the quarter strong with two more markers to pull within eight at 13-5 heading into the final period. Steele scored her fourth of the night before sophomore Abby Brown (Saco, Maine) found the twine. Srimouksavanh picked up another assist on the Brown goal.
- In the final period, WSU first year Mckayla Fisher (Peabody, Mass.) scored an early goal before EC first year Broghan Laundry (Swampscott, Mass.) capped the scoring with a free-position goal with 18 seconds to play to account for the 14-6 final in Worcester.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Steele's first goal of the action marked her 100th career point to become the 14th player in program history to reach the milestone. She finished the night with four goals and is now just three points shy of moving into the top-10 in career points at Emmanuel
- The Lancers got goals from eight different players, highlighted by four from senior Shea Jarvis (Auburn, Mass.) and three from senior Lily Gendron (Lakeville, Mass.).
- Senior Savanna Rosado (Milford, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for WSU making 11 saves.
- Sophomore Isabella Thomas (Miami, Fla.) made a season-high 13 saves in the loss to fall to 6-2 on the year.
- Worcester State outshot the Saints on the night 32-21 and forced the Saints into a season-high 27 turnovers.
