First Quarter Outburst Lifts Women’s Lacrosse to 20-7 Win at Albertus
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - An 11-goal outburst in the opening 15 minutes of Wednesday night’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse game provided plenty of offense for the Emmanuel Saints, as they claimed a 20-7 win at Albertus Magnus on Celentano Field.

THE LEAD – An 11-goal outburst in the opening 15 minutes of Wednesday night's Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse game provided plenty of offense for the Emmanuel Saints, as they claimed a 20-7 win at Albertus Magnus on Celentano Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons were on the board first, scoring twice in the opening 1:05 to hold a 2-0 lead with goals by seniors Mariah Mandulak (Shelton, Conn.) and Keegan Riccio (West Haven, Conn.). Emmanuel responded quickly with nine consecutive goals, part of an 11-goal outburst in the first quarter for the Saints.
- Sophomore Deja Srimouksavanh (Portsmouth, N.H.) was first to breakthrough for EC, followed up by back-to-back scores for first-year Livia Fedele (Spencerport, N.Y.), helping the Saints to a 3-2 lead. Sophomore Rachel Canedy (Woodstock, Conn.) scored to make it 4-2 while Srimouksavanh and Fedele capped of a six-goal stretch that took just 3:40, helping EC extend the lead.
- Four different goal scorers provided the final five goals of the first quarter for Emmanuel, including a pair by first-year Broghan Laundry (Swampscott, Mass.), as the Saints offense exploded for their highest-scoring quarter of the season, leading 11-3 through the first 15 minutes.
- Scoring slowed in the middle two quarters but the Saints increased their lead by outscoring Albertus Magnus 3-2 in the second and 3-1 in the third, bumping their advantage to 17-6 with one quarter to go.
- Another three-goal quarter was in store for EC, as goals by junior Maddie Kross (Bolton, Mass.), sophomore Deanna Bourque (Loudon, N.H.), and first-year Ella Marschitz (Naperville, Ill.), offset by one AMC goal led the Saints to a Wednesday night win, 20-7.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Fedele and Srimouksavanh each had five-point outings for the Saints. Fedele recorded four goals and one assist while Srimouksavanh tallied two goals and three assists.
- Marschitz and senior Megan Steele (Auburn, Mass.) finished the night with three goals and one assist, each.
- Junior Gabriela Serra (New Bedford, Mass.) played the first half of the game in the Saints goal, earning the victory to improve to 2-0 this season, following the three-save outing on Wednesday.
- Riccio finished with a hat trick for the Falcons to go along with one assist and three draw controls.
- Junior Alexandra Barrett (Northford, Conn.) added one goal, two assists, and three ground balls.
