Women's Lacrosse Scores 19 Straight in GNAC Massacre vs. Rivier
BOSTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College scored 19 unanswered goals to cruise past Rivier University, 19-1, Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women’s lacrosse action at Roberto Clemente Field.

THE LEAD – Emmanuel College scored 19 unanswered goals to cruise past Rivier University, 19-1, Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse action at Roberto Clemente Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Raiders sophomore middie Sarah Lachance (Chelmsford, Mass.) won the opening draw for Rivier who came down and scored on their first offensive possession to take a quick 1-0 lead. Sophomore Cassie Hemmerdinger (Pelham, N.H.) converted a free position shot just 38 seconds into the contest to give the visitors the brief advantage before the EC onslaught began.
- The Saints needed a few minutes to get into their offensive groove and ended up scoring seven first quarter goals over the final 10:23 of the stanza to command a 7-1 cushion after one quarter. First year Ella Marschitz (Naperville, Ill.), scored twice in the frame while first years Brianna Stephenson (Waterboro, Maine), Avery Robillard (Rowley, Mass.), Livia Fedele (Spencerport, N.Y.) and Alex Gencarelli (Bradford, R.I.) as well as sophomore Deja Srimouksavanh (Portsmouth, N.H.) all got into the scoring column in the frame.
- EC outscored the Raiders by 4-0 margins in both the second and third quarter to increase the lead to 15-1 after three periods. First year Broghan Laundry (Swampscott, Mass.) got into the scoring mix in the second while Robillard, Fedele and Srimouksavanh added their second goals of the contest.
- Sophomore Rachel Canedy (Woodstock, Conn.) and senior Megan Steele (Auburn, Maine) found the back of the net in the third while Srimouksavanh and Laundry added to their total with additional tallies.
- With the game well in hand, EC slowed down the attack in the final frame adding four more markers to the final tally. First year Emily Gates (Waterford, Conn.) netted a man-up goal with 12:55 left in regulation before Srimouksavanh deposited her fourth of the game. Laundry registered a hat trick with EC's 18th goal before Stephenson capped the scoring at 19 with 3:45 remaining in the 19-1 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Srimouksavanh led all players with five points on four goals and one assist.
- Laundry added four points on three goals and one helper while Fedele also recorded four points on two goals and two dimes.
- Stephenson was next with three points on two goals and one assist while Canedy had the reverse of one goal and two assists.
- Marschitz and Robillard tallied two goals each while Gates and Steele registered one goal and one assist each.
- The goal for Gencarelli was the first of her collegiate career.
- Sophomore Isabella Thomas (Miami, Fla.) earned the win in goal to improve to 5-0 on the year, making three saves on the night.
- Rivier sophomore goalie Margaret Smith (Portland, Maine) made 15 saves for the Raiders and falls to 1-2 on the season.
- EC outshot the Raiders 44-9 on the night and won 17 of the 23 draws to control possession.
- The 6-0 start matches the program's best start from the 2021 campaign.
