SAEF NAMED GNAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore attack Emily Saef (Moultonborough, N.H.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore attack Emily Saef (Moultonborough, N.H.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Saef burst onto the collegiate scene with an impressive first week, scoring nine goals to go along with four assists in a 2-1 week. The rookie led EC with four goals against Wentworth before following that performance up with a six-point outing (three goals/three assists) in a win over Anna Maria. Saef capped the week with two goals and a helper in a 13-4 win over Albertus Magnus, adding four groundballs, four draw controls and three caused turnovers to round out her week.
It marks the first time since 2013 that an Emmanuel first-year player has earned GNAC Rookie of the Week honors as the Saints all-time leading scorer Kristen Tuleja '16 earned the honor last on April 15, 2013.
Emmanuel is off to a strong start, boasting a 2-1 record marking the first time since the 2016 season the program has held a record above the .500 mark. The Saints return to action on Tuesday, March 19 when they play host to Bay Path College at 7:00 PM at Roberto Clemente Field.
