THE LEAD: Eight different players scored, including four with three or more goals, to power the Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team past host Emmanuel College (Mass.), 20-5, Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action at Roberto Clemente Field in Boston.

HOW IT HAPPENED  

  • The Wildcats scored the first 10 goals of the game, fueled by four goals from sophomore Madeline Bishara (Saunderstown, R.I.).
  • Emmanuel broke up the scoring string with its first goal coming with 15:19 left in the opening half when freshman Alexandra Ford (Springfield, Mass.) found sophomore Kylie Rice (Bethlehem, Conn.) for the Saints marker to make it 10-1.
  • Emmanuel outscored the Wildcats, 3-2, for the remainder of the half, with scores coming from Rice, sophomore Allison Hutchings (Billerica, Mass.) and Stephanie Warn (Hanson, Mass.), to cut the deficit to 12-4 heading into halftime.
  • Johnson & Wales limited the Saints to just one goal in the second half, while scoring eight times itself, paced by three goals from freshman Marley Medina (South Hadley, Mass.) and two each from freshman Dani Lydecker (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) and sophomore Maria Patane (Greenwich, N.Y.).
  • Aisling Butler tallied the lone goal for Emmanuel in the second half, coming at 12:05 to make it 17-5.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Johnson & Wales owned a 37-15 shot advantage and held Emmanuel to just eight of 20 successful clear attempts.
  • Freshman goalie Cassidy O'hara (Mashpee, Mass.) stopped eight shots to earn the victory for the Wildcats.
  • Emmanuel goalie Riley Loomis (Goshen, Conn.) turned away 10 of 28 shots, before leaving the match with 3:54 to play due to injury.
  • Senior Raquel Pederzani (Coventry, R.I.) paced the Johnson & Wales offense with a game-high seven points, including three goals and, while Patane racked up six points on three goals and three assists. Bishara and Medina each netted four goals and each won five draws. Junior Deja Hursey (Columbia, Md.) led the Wildcats' defense with a game-high six caused turnovers and came up with five ground balls.
  • Rice led the Emmanuel attack with a pair of goals and added five draw controls, while Warn, Butler and Hutchings all contributed a goal each. Senior Sophia White chipped in with three ground balls and three draw controls.
