DAVIS NAMED HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICAN
March 23, 2009
D3hoops.com recently announced that Emmanuel's Iman Davis (Toms River, N.J.) was named an Honorable Mention to their All-American Team. Davis is a D3hoops.com 1st Team All-Northeast Region selection. During 2008-2009 season, the junior guard led Emmanuel to its 13th Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship and 14th NCAA Tournament appearance. Davis led the 22-8 Saints in scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals. She was named the GNAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year and received conference Player of the Week honors four times. Davis was also an ECAC Player of the Week selection and was named the GNAC Tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Each year since 1998, D3hoops.com has selected an All-American Team. D3hoops.com announces the All-American Teams during the audio broadcast of the national title game on an annual basis. Early All-American teams were referred to as the Team of the Year. Beginning in 2001, D3hoops.com introduced All-Region Teams, which are nominated and voted upon by Sports Information Directors at the various institutions, with All-Region nominees then being considered for All-American status. There were 662 players nominated nationwide for All-Region status, a new high. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for 10 players from their region. SIDs voted for six frontcourt players and four backcourt players, to ensure balance. This is the second-straight year that Davis has received All-Region honors. However, she is just the fourth player in Emmanuel program history to be named to one of the All-America Teams.
