PAEZ PLAYS PROFESSIONAL BALL IN PUERTO RICO
Feb. 23, 2010
Jade Paez, a 2008 graduate of Emmanuel College, has been playing professional basketball in Puerto Rico since wrapping up her career with the Saints. Paez plays in Puerto Rico for a team called, Indias de Mayaguez. During the 2009 season, she averaged 14 points and 4 assists per game. She also holds the Liga Superior Femenina de Puerto Rico record for most three-pointers made in a game, with 8.
Paez's team plays about 27-28 games each season. The season starts in August and ends in Mid-November. During her first season in Puerto Rico, Paez's team advanced to the championship game. Because it was her rookie season and she was the only point guard on a team playing its first year in the league, Paez was extremely proud and grateful for that experience.
In 2010, Paez was invited to play with the Puerto Rican National Team during the season, but chose to stay with her current team to finish out the year. She does look forward to playing with the National Team in the near future. Overall, Paez feels that her experience playing professional ball has been terrific and she feels "blessed."
