Nov. 18, 2009
BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Women's Basketball Team took care of Lesley University, 72-58, in the Saints' home opener on Wednesday night in the Jean Yawkey Center. Emmanuel was paced by Breanna Ockimey's (Philadelphia, Pa.) 15 points and a strong 13-point, 17-rebound effort from Iman Davis (Toms River, N.J.). The 1-0 Saints handed the visiting Lynx their second loss of the season. Over the past three years, Emmanuel has won all three meetings with Lesley.
Wednesday night's contest featured no lead changes, as the Saints stormed out to an early lead and never looked back. Davis had a near double-double in the first half with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Ockimey netted 11 of her 15 points in just thirteen first-half minutes. Emmanuel's defense forced 14 Lesley turnovers in the opening period and the Saints led 36-27 at the break.
Emmanuel extended its lead to as many as 22 points mid-way through the second half. Davis continued to pound the boards and collected a game-high 17 rebounds on the night. Sparked by Davis, the Saints out-rebounded the Lynx, 49-40, for the game.
Davis and junior point guard Casey Shevlin (Medford, N.Y.) combined for 11 steals in the game and the Saints managed to score 22 points off of Lynx turnovers. Shevlin played a solid game, scoring 8 points and dishing out a team-high 4 assists, to go along with her 6 steals.
Junior transfer Pamela Mobley (Worcester, Mass.) was a spark off the bench for Emmanuel, scoring 9 points and blocking 2 shots. Mobley's shooting was perfect for the game, as she went 3 for 3 from the floor and 3 for 3 from the line.
Lesley was led by senior center Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.), who scored a game-high 27 points and hauled in 9 boards. Lowe shot 8 for 15 from the floor and near perfect at 11 for 12 from the line. Junior Brianne Caira (Pelham, N.H.) chipped in with 12 points, while senior guard Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) dished out a game-high 8 assists for the Lynx.

The Saints will face Roger Williams University at 2:30pm. The tournament consolation game and championship game will be played on Sunday (11/22) at 1pm and 3pm, respectively.
