Bio

Meghan Kirwan joined the Emmanuel athletic staff in the summer of 2014 as an Assistant Coach for the Saints Women’s Basketball Team.  Kirwan is an Emmanuel College alum, graduating magna cum laude in 2012, majoring in Elementary Education and Liberal Studies.

In her eight seasons on staff, the Saints have posted a record of 150-49 (.754) including seven consecutive trips to the GNAC Championship game with GNAC titles in 2019, 2020 and 2022 for trips to the NCAA tournament.

Kirwan was a standout for the Saints during her collegiate playing days, leading Emmanuel to GNAC titles in both 2011 and 2012.  Captaining the squad in 2012, Kirwan led the Saints to the NCAA Tournament, advancing as far as the Elite Eight.  She is a two-time GNAC Tournament Most Valuable Player (’11, ’12) and was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2012.

Kirwan received Emmanuel’s Academic Achievement Award and was voted a Capital One Academic All-District 1st Team Player in 2012.

Prior to her success on the court and in the classrooms at Emmanuel, Kirwan was enrolled in and played Division II basketball at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

Kirwan now works full-time in the Somerville Public Schools as a reading specialist.
