HOW IT HAPPENED
- For a fifth consecutive game, the third quarter proved vital to the success of the Saints. Their most efficient quarter of the game was paired with allowing just two points to the Cadets in the third.
- The Saints held a six-point lead after Norwich's only made basket of the third quarter, a made jumper from first-year Haley Brewster (Virginia Beach, Va.). From that point, Emmanuel charged forward with a 17-0 run in the final 6:55 of the third. Saints first-year Yannie Chan (Hong Kong, China) had eight points in the run while sophomore Olivia Matela (Swampscott, Mass.) added six points.
- The run continued into the fourth with Emmanuel scoring the first six points of the quarter to boost their lead to 53-24. In total, the Saints 23-0 run spanned 9:27 before a Brewster three-pointer ended the scoreless drought for Norwich.
- The Saints shot 15-of-32 in the second half while outscoring the Cadets 40-13 over the final 20 minutes.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Saints graduate student Jamad Fiin (Boston, Mass.) finished with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
- Chan added 13 points with the help of 7-of-8 shooting at the foul line.
- Brewster finished with 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in her double-double.
- First-year Maren McGinn (Georgia, Vt.) added four points and four rebounds.
