Saints Hold On For 74-66 Road Win Over Connecticut College
NEW LONDON, Conn. - Emmanuel College held on for a 74-66 road victory over Connecticut College Saturday morning at the Luce Fieldhouse in New London, Conn. The win moves the Saints to 4-0 while the loss drops the Camels to 1-3 on the year.

THE LEAD – Emmanuel College held on for a 74-66 road victory over Connecticut College Saturday morning at the Luce Fieldhouse in New London, Conn. The win moves the Saints to 4-0 while the loss drops the Camels to 1-3 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opening quarter, the Saints jumped out to a 10-7 lead following a bucket by senior Loredana D'Agostino (Broad Brook, Conn.) with 6:03 to play before the Camels answered with a 9-0 run (16-10). D'Agostino closed the quarter's scoring with a hoop to make it a 16-12 game through one quarter of play.
- EC regained the lead at 17-16 with a three by graduate Jamad Fiin (Boston, Mass.) midway through the second before a 4-0 flurry by the Camels made it 20-17 with 3:02 to play in the half.
- Over the final three minutes of action, the Saints closed the half strong with the help of a full court press and some sharp shooting from downtown. EC rattled off 12 straight points to build a 29-20 lead before senior Emily Tripp (Westport, Mass.) broke up the streak with a layup before the halftime buzzer to account for a 29-22 halftime score in favor of the visitors.
- Emmanuel led by as many as nine early in the third before the Camels stormed back to tie the game at 39-39 on a free throw by first year Caitlin Donadio (Clinton, Conn.). The Saints closed the third on a 6-2 spurt, carrying a four-point 45-41 lead into the final stanza.
- A three by senior Korie Mathis (Duluth, Ga.) extended the Saints lead to nine at 56-47 with 5:46 remaining in regulation but again the host Camels battled back with a 9-0 run to even the game at 56-all on a three by Molly Cronin (Wellesley, Mass.) with 3:31 left.
- EC answered with a 7-0 run to build a 63-56 lead with less than a minute to play and the Saints made their free throws down the stretch to hold on for the 74-66 road win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- D'Agostino led all scorers with 19 points and posted a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds while classmate Riley Lahiff (North Attleboro, Mass.) chipped in with 17 points and a 9-of-10 shooting performance from the charity stipe.
- Fiin was also in double-figures for EC with 13 points while Mathis added a season-high nine points and a team-high four assists.
- Cronin paced the Camels with 16 points while Tripp added 10.
- The squads ended the day with a 43-43 rebounding draw but the Saints did control 19 offensive boards compared to 11 for the hosts.
- The last time the Saints opened a season 4-0 was 2012 when they opened the campaign 6-0 before suffering a setback.
UP NEXT
- The Saints are now idle for 10 days over the Thanksgiving break and return to action on Tuesday, November 30 when they play host to #16 Amherst College at 7:30 PM in Boston.
