THE LEAD: Five different players for Emmanuel College posted double digits in the point's column as the Saints recorded their tenth straight win of the season over Johnson and Wales University, 70-61, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Thursday evening, on the Andy Yosinoff Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Ally Mishol (Longmeadow, Mass.) started off the night with a made shot behind the arc to put the Wildcats up 3-0 within the first ten seconds of the contest.
  • Emmanuel was down through the first three minutes of the game until Madison McLaughlin (Westerly, R.I.) connected to bring the Saints up, 7-5.
  • Both teams continued to swap the lead until EC went on a 14-8 run, led by Alisha Fox (National Park, N.J.), and McLaughlin to close out the first quarter up 23-16.
  • The Saints continued their defensive stance into the second quarter, not allowing the Wildcats to score for the first two minutes, until Raquel Pederzani (Coventry, R.I.) sank two from the free throw line.
  • Off the bench, Caitlin Cipriano (Waterbury, Conn.) opened the lead for the Saints, 37-20, off of six points from layups within a minute and a half during the second period.
  • Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda (South Boston, Mass.) closed out the half with two made layups, continuing the offensive attack by the Saints to go into the break leading 45-22.
  • Pederzai and Emily Beauvais (Greenville, N.H) of Johnson and Wales started the second half off with nine straight points to close the lead 49-34.
  • The Wildcats scored a total of 22 points in the third quarter, matching their offensive stats from the whole first half, ending the quarter 61-44.
  • Sophomore guard Kayla Weaver (West Haven, Conn.) and Cipriano started out the final quarter with a pair of layups, but the Wildcats closed the lead quickly to only nine points,68-59, as Johnson and Wales was able to go on a 14-3 run late in the game.
  • The Saints held on to their lead a pair of made free throws late in the game by Weaver to close out the GNAC victory, 70-61.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Pederzani led all scorers on the night, recording 21 points, nine of which came from behind the arc.
  • The Saints were led on the glass by Ramirez-Tejeda, who recorded a double-double on the night, scoring 12 points and collecting 15 rebounds.
  • EC was able to collect 24 points from the bench, while the Wildcats only recorded six bench points, all from Beauvais.
  • Fox was able to record double digit points for the Saints, coming off the bench to help boost the offense with her own 14 points.

  • The Wildcats have only one day off before hosting GNAC rival Rivier on Saturday, February 3rd at 6:00PM.
  • Emmanuel will also be back in action on Saturday, February 3rd at 1:00PM as they host College of the Fenway rival Simmons College in a GNAC match-up.
