SAINTS MARCH PAST CADETS FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – A cold shooting night plagued the Cadets from beginning to end against the Saints of Emmanuel College on Tuesday evening, and Norwich University dropped the contest by a 60-41 final score.

The Cadets opened things with an Arianna Harrison (Vernon, Vt.) 3-pointer to make it 5-3 Emmanuel at the start of the first quarter, but would only manage four more field goals in the first half. Luckily Shyann Josler (Thetford Center, Vt.) went a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line in the half to keep the Cadets somewhat in the game, but Norwich still entered the locker room trailing 34-19.

Norwich managed to get some offense going in the second half, opening things up with a 6-2 run to cut the Emmanuel lead to 11. The Saints closed out the third quarter on their own 10-2 run to widen the gap to 18 points heading into the final quarter. Neither team got much going in the final ten minutes, as Emmanuel outscored the Cadets 10-9 to seal up their sixth GNAC victory off the year, 60-41.

Josler led the Cadets with 19 points and five rebounds, as she accounted for almost half of the Norwich offensive output on the night. No other Cadet reached double-digit, as the maroon and gold shot a mere 24.6% from the field on the night. Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda (South Boston, Mass.) picked up a 10 point 14 rebound double-double to lead the Saints. Senior Alissa Fox (National Park, N.J.) led the Saints in scoring with 15 points.

Emmanuel imrpoves to 10-6 on the year and 6-1 in GNAC play. It also marks the 40th consecutive season that the EC women's basketball program has captured 10 or more wins during a campaign.

With the loss, Norwich falls to 6-9 on the year and 3-5 within the conference. It's another GNAC faceoff for the Cadets the next time they hit the court, as they travel to take on the Saint Joseph (Conn.) Bluejays on Thursday afternoon. Emmanuel returns to the court the same night, playing host to Rivier University in more GNAC action at 5:00 PM.
