WOMEN'S HOOPS TURNS OVER ST. JOSEPH (CT), 89-44
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Lena Negri (Arlington, Va.) scored 20 points and the Emmanuel College women’s basketball team forced 41 turnovers Saturday in an 89-44 win over the University of Saint Joseph in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game at the O’Connell Center.

Emmanuel improved to 16-6 overall and 7-1 in the GNAC; USJ is 2-19 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
Stephanie DeJesus (Meriden, Conn.) led USJ with 15 points and Carlee Putnam (Niantic, Conn.) scored 12. Dhimitra Hatika (South Windsor, Conn.) had a game-high 10 rebounds, which was also a career-high. Kayla Guest (Newington, Conn.) added nine points for the Blue Jays.
Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) scored 14 points for Emmanuel and Mary McCarthy had 12 points and nine rebounds. Devin Rauh (Collegeville, Pa.) handed out eight assists for the Saints. Maddie McLaughlin (Westerly, R.I.) keyed the transition game with six steals and Higgins and Rauh made four apiece.
Emmanuel scored 38 points off the 41 USJ turnovers and had a 22-0 advantage in fast break points. The Saints never trailed and led 19-6 after one quarter and 40-20 at halftime.
USJ is at Manhattanville, Monday, Feb. 8 in a 6 p.m. non-conference game. Emmanuel hosts St. Joseph's College, of Maine, Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a GNAC game.
