BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College junior Sarah Higgins wrapped up the regular season by being named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The Groveland, Mass. native led the Saints to a pair of GNAC wins last week, as Emmanuel finished regular-season play with a perfect 11-0 record.
The 5'8 guard poured in 18 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out five assists in a win over Anna Maria last Tuesday and then netted 15 points to go along with six boards and six steals in a win at Simmons on Saturday. Higgins, a 3rd Team All-GNAC selection last year as a sophomore, has also been honored by the conference two other times this season, as she was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on November 24th and again on January 19th.
With their 11-0 GNAC mark, Higgins and the Saints earned the No. 1 seed for the upcoming GNAC Tournament. The Saints will host the No. 8-seeded Falcons of Albertus Magnus College on Tuesday night (2/24). Tip-off is slated for 7:00 PM in the Yawkey Center.
