WOMEN’S BASKETBALL EARNS TOP SEED IN GNAC TOURNAMENT
BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College will once again be the top seed in this week’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament. The Saints rolled to a sweep of all GNAC opponents this season, finishing regular season conference play at 11-0. Emmanuel will host the opening round of the tournament on Tuesday night, February 25th. The Saints will play host to 8th-seeded Norwich University in a 7:00 PM start in the Jean Yawkey Center.

The Saints rolled to a sweep of all GNAC opponents this season, finishing regular season conference play at 11-0. Emmanuel will host the opening round of the tournament on Tuesday night, February 25th. The Saints will play host to 8th-seeded Norwich University in a 7:00 PM start in the Jean Yawkey Center.
With their undefeated 2013-14 regular season campaign, the Saints now hold a streak of four-consecutive unbeaten seasons in the GNAC, a total of 52-straight regular season GNAC wins. Including post-season conference tournament games, Emmanuel has gone 64-0 against GNAC opponents, a streak which dates back to February 9, 2010.
The No. 1 seeded Saints will face the No. 8 seeded Cadets of Norwich University on Tuesday night in one of four quarterfinal games played around the GNAC. Earlier this season, Emmanuel defeated Norwich, 49-37, in a low-scoring battle played on January 12th in the Jean Yawkey Center. Norwich is returning to the GNAC Tournament after a one-year hiatus. The Cadets were also seeded 8th back in 2012, when they were defeated by the Saints in opening round action, 66-54.
The other GNAC quarterfinal pairings to be played this Tuesday night will feature No. 2 Saint Joseph's College hosting No. 7 Lasell College, No. 3 Rivier University hosting No. 6 University of Saint Joseph and No. 4 Suffolk University hosting No. 5 Johnson & Wales University. The winner of the #1 Emmanuel/#8 Norwich game will face the winner of the #4 Suffolk/#5 JWU game on Thursday night in the GNAC Semifinals.
Having earned the No. 1 seed and provided the Saints continue to win, Emmanuel will host semifinal action on Thursday night and then the conference championship on Saturday. The winner of the GNAC Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
