EMMANUEL ROLLS TO 68-47 WIN AT EMERSON
BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel Women’s Basketball Team wrapped up a stretch of four Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) games in seven days with a 68-47 win at Emerson College on Monday afternoon. The Saints went 4-0 over the conference stand, improving to 13-4 overall and 5-0 in league play. Today’s loss dropped the host Lions to 6-10 overall and 2-3 in GNAC games.

The win in today's cross-town rivalry marked the 699th career victory for Emmanuel Head Coach Andy Yosinoff, who is in his 36th season with the Saints. Yosinoff and the Saints will vie for win No. 700 this Wednesday evening, January 23rd, when Emmanuel hosts the 6th-ranked Jumbos of Tufts University in the Jean Yawkey Center at 7:00 PM.
The visiting Saints surged out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back in this afternoon's contest at Emerson. Emmanuel led by as many as 15 at halftime, 36-21, and got out in front by 30 points, 55-25, just five minutes into the second half. Despite a four-minute scoreless period late in the second frame, in which Emerson went on an 8-0 run, the Saints maintained control and pulled away with the 68-47 win.
Senior captain Fiona O'Dwyer (Stamford, Conn.) led the Saints with 20 points and 8 rebounds, while fellow tri-captain Laura Benvenuto (Wyckoff, N.J.) added 10 points, 6 steals and 4 assists. Sophomores Britni Mikulanecz (Portland, Me.) and Vanessa Bramante (Stoneham, Mass.) had solid games, recording 7 steals and 7 rebounds, respectively, in the win.
As a team, the Saints forced 38 Emerson turnovers with 23 of them coming off steals. Emmanuel dished out 20 assists, to just 12 by the Lions. The Saints won the battle of the boards, 37-34.
