Saints Win Fourth Straight With 3-0 Victory Over Fisher

Trailing 4-2 early in the first set, Maximilian Olsen (Barnstable, Mass.) rose up for a powerful kill to begin 6-1 run for the Saints. The Falcons responded with three consecutive points of their own, all due to errors from the home side, to level the match at eight apiece. On the next point, Thor Yingling (Truro, Mass.) rose up for a kill of his own that would begin a dominant 12-2 run. The Saints hung on to the big advantage, securing the first set 25-14 and taking a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Saints won the first seven points of the second set to develop a commanding lead over the visitors, forcing Fisher into an early timeout. Emmanuel maintained a significant advantage throughout the remainder of the set en route to a 25-7 second set victory. The Saints were led by a balanced attack with four players responsible for at least three kills.
Carlos Diaz (Guaynabo, P.R.) got the third set started an ace for the visitors. Shortly after, a kill from Christopher Shepard (Woburn, Mass.) gave Fisher a 4-2 advantage early in the set. The Saints responded, taking advantage of a Falcons error for their first lead of the set. Emmanuel went on to grow their lead, ultimately winning the final five points of the set for a 25-15 third set victory and 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-15) victory.
Thor Yingling led the Saints with a match-leading eight kills, followed by Rob Moore (East Islip, N.Y.) with six. Jacob Aronov (Natick, Mass.) finished with a match-leading 18 assists in the win. Ethan Marshall (Melbourne, Australia) finished five kills and .286 hitting percentage while Carlos Diaz added two aces in the loss.
Up next, Emmanuel will return to Yosinoff Court on Friday (2/23) night for an 8 P.M. nonconference battle with No. 17 Misericordia University. Fisher will travel to Regis College on Friday (2/23) for a nonconference contest at 4:00 P.M.
