Men's Volleyball Cruises to Saturday Sweep Over Colby-Sawyer & Fisher
NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball program picked up a pair of 3-0 victories on Saturday morning, sweeping host Colby-Sawyer College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action followed by a win over Fisher College in non-conference play.

THE LEAD – The Emmanuel College men's volleyball program picked up a pair of 3-0 victories on Saturday morning, sweeping host Colby-Sawyer College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action followed by a win over Fisher College in non-conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED (vs. Colby-Sawyer)
- After trading points to a 2-2 score, EC took the lead for good in the opening set being three straight points including a kill by first year Trey Guest (Newington, Conn.). Sophomore Jyles Amirault (Andover, Mass.) slammed home a kill midway through the set to bump the lead to 14-6 before CSC answered with three straight points to pull within five at 14-9 but the Saints ended the frame on an 11-6 rush to take the opening set, 25-14.
- Emmanuel raced out to an early 8-2 cushion in the second and following a 14-8 score halfway through the set, the Saints dominated late by closing the game on a 9-1 run fueled by four kills from first year outside hitter Michael Shelley (San Francisco, Calif.) in the 25-9 stomp.
- The Saints used the momentum to race out to a 5-1 advantage in set three and never trailed to secure a 25-12 final set win for the sweep.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (vs. Colby-Sawyer)
- EC combined to hit .328 as a team (32-11-64) while holding the Chargers to a -.100 clip (11-17-60).
- Shelley led the way with a match-high eight kills, adding four aces and three digs.
- Senior setter Roman Fabrizio (Salem, N.H.) passed out 28 assists while first year libero Nick Sciabica (Floral Park, N.Y.) recorded a match-high 10 digs.
- Isaac Davis was the only Charger with a positive hitting percentage in the defeat, collecting seven kills for the hosts.
HOW IT HAPPENED (vs. Fisher)
- EC rushed ahead in the second match with a comfortable 12-2 lead following a service ace by sophomore Louis DaSilva (New Bedford, Mass.). The Saints led by as many as 12 in the first, cruising to a 25-14 win.
- The Falcons opened set two with consecutive points to hold a short lead before EC turned it on with a 12-1 rally control the action midway, 12-3. It didn't get any easier for Fisher as the Falcons were unable to stop the Saints in the 25-7 final.
- Emmanuel opened its final frame of the day scoring the first six points, coasting to another 25-7 victory for the 3-0 non-conference sweep.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (vs. Fisher)
- Amirault and Guest each posted six kills in the win while Amirault added a match-high five aces.
- Maximilian Olsen (Barnstable, Mass.) and Shelley chipped in with five winners each while Dominic DeFerrari (Miami, Fla.) dished out 14 assists.
- Rafael Fabra collected two kills for Fisher.

- The Saints are idle until next Saturday, February 18 when they host Lasell University and Colby-Sawyer in a GNAC tri-match slated to begin at 10:00 AM vs. the Lasers.
