Rivier Knocks Men's Volleyball Out of GNAC Tourney
NASHUA, N.H. - No. 3 Rivier University combined to hit .318 as a team to cruise past No. 6 Emmanuel College in Opening Round action of the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men’s Volleyball tournament at the Muldoon Center in Nashua, N.H.

THE LEAD – No. 3 Rivier University combined to hit .318 as a team to cruise past No. 6 Emmanuel College in Opening Round action of the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Volleyball tournament at the Muldoon Center in Nashua, N.H.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders outhit the visiting Saints in all three sets. The opening frame was Rivier's most productive, with 17 kills compared to just five for Emmanuel.
- Set two was the tightest between the two teams, with Rivier finishing with 12 kills to the Saints 11. The difference in the frame was RIV sophomore outside hitter Isaac Borges (New Boston, NH) connected on four aces while EC served up two more errors to make up the six point different in the 25-19 score.
- The host saved the best for last as the Raiders hit .500 from the court in the third frame, tallying 13 kills with just two errors. Emmanuel put 11 attempts down with four errors but it was not enough as Rivier held on for the 25-15 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Rivier's defense aided in the one-sided contest with 11 blocks compared to Emmanuel's six.
- EC first year Jyles Amirault (Andover, Mass.) was one dig shy of a double-doublt with 10 kills and nine digs to cap a stellar rookie campaign.
- David Smith (Clinton, OH) led all with 13 kills and six digs for RIV while Pedro Camps (Downey, CA) racked up 38 assists and five digs.
- EC junior setter Roman Fabrizio (Salem, N.H.) ended the night with 20 helpers and four digs.
- Jack Hromada (Burnt Hills, NY) helped dig out 11 of the Raiders 35.
UP NEXT
- The Raiders advance to the GNAC Semifinal and will head to Newton, Mass. to take on No. 2 Lasell University on Thursday, April 7 with the winner advancing on to the GNAC Championship to be played on Saturday, April 9.
- Emmanuel's 2022 campaign comes to a close with a 14-15 overall record. The Saints bid farewell to their lone senior in libero Tyler Behsman (Derry, N.H.).
