Saints Top Bulldogs 3-0 in Men's Volleyball Action

FRANKLIN, Mass.  – The Emmanuel College men's volleyball team defeated Dean College, 3-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match Tuesday night. The Saints won by scores of 25-16, 25-10 and 25-12.

Emmanuel received eight kills on .571 hitting in two sets from first-year Jyles Amirault (Andover, Mass.). First-year Thor Yingling (Truro, Mass.) added six kills. Junior libero Ryan Cave (Chicopee, Mass.) picked up a match best 13 digs. Junior setter Roman Fabrizio (Salem, N.H.) finished with 22 assists and four aces in two sets.

Dean freshman Rodrigo Monteiro (Praia, Cape Verde) had three kills, while junior Nicholas Carlson (Warwick, R.I.) added two kills and three digs. Junior setter Tyler Martins (East Providence, R.I.) posted seven assists and seven digs. Senior Nathan Minese (Portsmouth, R.I.) also had seven digs and an assist.

The Saints registered 12 kills and four aces in the first set en route to the 25-16 victory. Amirault and Yingling combined for nine kills. Monteiro had a couple of kills to lead the Bulldogs. Dean sophomore Aaron Fonseca (Cranston, R.I.) had four digs in the set.

Emmanuel continued its efficient attack in the second, posting 13 kills on .357 hitting for the 25-10 win. First-year Devon Perelgut (Plaistow, N.H.) hit .556 for five kills to lead the Saints.

The visitors earned the sweep with a 25-12 third set victory. Carlson had two kills for the Bulldogs. The Saints added 12 kills on .286 hitting for the frame.

Dean (1-16, 0-9 GNAC) will host Emerson on Thursday at 6 p.m. Emmanuel (12-9, 5-4 GNAC) travels to Elms on Thursday for a 7 p.m. first serve.
