SAINTS TAKEN DOWN IN THREE BY GNAC FOE WENTWORTH, 3-0
BOSTON, MASS. - The Emmanuel College Men’s Volleyball team was taken down in three sets by Colleges of the Fenway rival Wentworth Institute of Technology, led by Ollie Oshman (Pennington, N.J.) and Collin Ritter (Feeling Hills, Mass.), who each recorded ten kills on the day, defeating the Saints, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-20), Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s volleyball action.

THE LEAD: The Emmanuel College Men's Volleyball team was taken down in three sets by Colleges of the Fenway rival Wentworth Institute of Technology, led by Ollie Oshman (Pennington, N.J.) and Collin Ritter (Feeling Hills, Mass.), who each recorded ten kills on the day, defeating the Saints, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-20), Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's volleyball action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
- The Saints were able to take a 5-3 lead early in the set, led by a kill from Manuel Velez (San Jose, Costa Rica), and four offensive errors by the Leopards.
- WIT began to close the lead and took control of the set on a 12-5 run, consisting of kills by Ritter, Xhuljo Zyba (Holbrook, Mass.), and Ryan Love (Gaithersburg, Md.), along with two assisted blocks, to take the lead, 15-10.
- The Leopards continued to hold control of the end of the set, finishing with an assisted block by Ritter and Oshman and kill by Brian Drouse (Dallas, Pa.), 25-15.
SET 2
- John Carroll (Massapequa, Mass.) and Erik English (Simi Valley, Calif.) brought the Saints out of the break hot, taking a quick 6-2 lead in the second set.
- Very much like the first set, the Leopards were able to go on a 13-7 run to take the lead, highlighted by three kills apiece for WIT by Ryan Engel (Floral Park, N.Y.) and Love to move ahead 15-13.
- The offensive attack of the Leopards continued through the end of the set as Ritter, Engel and Brouse were all able to record kills, taking the set for Wentworth, 25-19.
SET 3
- David Marsh (Springfield, Mass.), Engel and Ritter were all able to tally early set kills for the Leopards to put the Saints down quickly, 6-2.
- The Saints began their comeback on back-to-back kills by English and Alex Silva (Jamaica Plain, Mass.) before Oshman recorded two kills and a block of his own to keep the Leopards ahead, 10-6.
- Wentworth amounted a 10-4 run in the middle of the set where the Saints recorded seven offensive errors to extend the lead, 20-10.
- The Saints stayed in the set through the very end, going on a five point rally off of four attacking errors by the Leopards and a kill by English before Wentworth was able to close out the match with a kill by Love, 25-20.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Oshman and Ritter recorded a game-high 10 kills apiece for the Leopards, with a hitting percentage of .769 and .471 respectively, along with a combined six digs, 15 assists and seven blocks.
- Sophomore setter Seamus McDonagh (Long Beach, N.Y.), was able to record twenty assists on the day, leading the charge for the Saints.
- The Leopards were able to tally a total of 48 kills on the day, in comparison to on 28 kills by the Emmanuel College Saints.

- Emmanuel is back in action on the road on Tuesday, March 20th against Greater Northeast Athletic Conference foe Lasell College at 7:00 PM.
- Wentworth has a week to rest before their next match on the road against GNAC competitor Regis College on Saturday, March 24th at 1:00 PM.
