MEN'S VOLLEYBALL DROPS TWO ON THE ROAD TO SUNY NEW PALTZ & ST. JOSEPH'S (LI)
Patchogue, N.Y. - The Emmanuel College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference contests Saturday in the Danzi Center. The Saints lost a 3-0 decision to SUNY New Paltz before falling to host Saint Joseph Long Island, 3-1 in the tri-match finale.

3-0 Loss, SUNY New Paltz
After posting a 3-1 win over Saint Joseph's (LI), the SUNY Hawks got right back on the court to take on Emmanuel College and the offense continued to fire on all cylinders, posting a .338 team hitting percentage. Senior co-captain Ryan Cole built off of his performance at home against SUNY Polytechnic Institute on the right side and led the Hawks with 11 kills on 17 attempts with only two errors for a .529 hitting percentage.
SUNY New Paltz defeated Emmanuel College handily 25-15, 25-17, 25-18 to complete its undefeated week and push its record to 9-4 overall.
Emmanuel's Erik English paced the Saints with seven kills and seven digs.
Matthew Grace tallied 83 assists in the two matches, leading the offense with a steady hand as usual with zero ball handling errors. Sophomore libero Robert Nolan led the back line with 21 total digs.
3-1 Loss, Saint Joseph's (Long Island)
St. Joseph's stormed to a 2-0 lead with 25-17, 25-13 wins in sets one and two. In set three, the home team was held to a .019 hitting percentage with just nine kills and fell to the Saints 25-20. Set four saw Emmanuel leading early, but the Golden Eagles took a six point swing and turned it to a 14-10 advantage. The Saints closed the gap to two at 17-15, but SJC rattled off eight of the final 11 points for the 25-18 win.
Amberge matched a game-high 15 points with 16 digs for the Golden Eagles. Curaro added 14 kills and sophomore Will Flohr pitched in with 13 kills and a team-high 21 digs. Sophomore libero Michael Barfield racked up 19 digs and Jones recorded 34 assists.
Emmanuel's Erik English finished with 15 kills and 12 digs with setter Seamus McDonagh recording 29 assists. Libero Max Gottuso came away with a game-high 22 digs.
The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center Saturday, March 3 when they host City College of New York. Game time is set for 12:00 pm.

The Saints are off until Saturday, March 10 when they head to Providence, R.I. to take on Southern Vermont and Pine Manor College on the campus of Johnson & Wales University for matches at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
