MEN’S VOLLEYBALL NOTCHES FIRST WIN WITH 3-0 SWEEP OVER DEAN
FRANKLIN, Mass.- The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-13) victory over Dean College Thursday evening on the Dean College campus. The Saints notch their first win of the year and improve to 1-4 overall while the loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-2 as the match was just the program’s second ever contest.

The Saints notch their first win of the year and improve to 1-4 overall while the loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-2 as the match was just the program's second ever contest.
Emmanuel came out of the gate strong and never looked back, racing to an early lead in all three sets. Dean rallied with five straight points early in the second set to knot the score at 6-6, but Emmanuel scored seven out of the next nine to stay control. The Saints also dominated the service game, registering 17 aces on the night compared to just one from the hosts.
Sophomore outside hitter Erik English (Simi Valley, Calif.) led the way for Emmanuel with nine kills and sophomore middle hitter Alex Silva (Jamaica Plain, Mass.) had six kills for the Saints. Rookie setter Seamus McDonagh (Long Beach, N.Y.) dished out a match-high 23 assists.
Dean Bennett and Justin Frietas led Dean with three kills each. Kyle Lameiras had seven assists for the Bulldogs.
Dean next plays on Saturday, February 4 at Eastern Nazarene College at 7:00 PM. The Saints are back in action the same day when they head to Albertus Magnus College for a 3:15 PM Great Northeast Athletic Conference match against the Falcons.
