MEN'S VOLLEYBALL POSTS PERFECT 4-0 RECORD AT JWU INVITATIONAL
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team posted two more wins during the second day of play at the Johnson & Wales University Invitational, posting a pair of 3-0 wins over Lesley University (25-10, 25-20, 25-13) and New Jersey City (25-15, 25-19, 25-16). The Saints finished the Invitational with a 4-0 and stand at 11-8 on the year.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Emmanuel College men's volleyball team posted two more wins during the second day of play at the Johnson & Wales University Invitational, posting a pair of 3-0 wins over Lesley University (25-10, 25-20, 25-13) and New Jersey City (25-15, 25-19, 25-16). The Saints finished the Invitational with a perfect 4-0 record and stand at 11-8 on the year.
Match 1 vs. Lesley
Senior outside hitter Barrett Wingard (York, Pa.) slammed home a match-high 12 kills and six aces while hitting .476 to lead the Saints to a 3-0 sweep over the Lynx. Emmanuel was efficient as a team combining to hit .354 overall in the match while holding Lesley to a dismal .017 clip (19 kills – 18 errors - 58 attempts).
Senior middle hitter Julian Hess (Santa Monica, Calif.) paced the Saints with a near-perfect performance collecting five kills on six swings for an .833 hitting percentage.
Freshman setter Andres Saladrigas (Miami, Fla.) dished out a season-high 20 helpers in the win.
Match 2 vs. New Jersey City
Wingard paced EC again with a match-high 13 kills to go along with eight digs. Hess continued to make his swings count, putting down nine kills on 11 attempts with no errors for an .818 hitting percentage.
Junior setter Jorge Rojas (San Juan, Puerto Rico) ran a balanced offensive show registering 32 assists while senior libero Kevin Gallegos (Los Angeles, Calif.) collected a match-high nine digs for the Saints.
For the second consecutive match, Emmanuel held its opponent to a low team hitting percentage, holding New Jersey City to a .052 clip (24 kills – 20 errors – 77 attempts) while hitting .321 on their offensive end.
The Saints return to action on Tuesday, March 15 when they travel to Nashua, N.H. for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match up against Rivier University at 7:00 PM.
