JACKSON NAMED GNAC MEN’S VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College senior outside hitter Ashanti Jackson (Sacramento, Calif.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office earlier this afternoon. This marks the third time in his career that he’s been tabbed the conference Player of the Week, also earning the honor once as a freshman and once as a junior.
BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College senior outside hitter Ashanti Jackson (Sacramento, Calif.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office earlier this afternoon. This marks the third time in his career that he's been tabbed the conference Player of the Week, also earning the honor once as a freshman and once as a junior.
Jackson led Emmanuel to a 3-0 week in GNAC play, averaging 4.00 kills per set while hitting at a .283 clip. The senior posted 20 kills in a clutch 3-2 victory over Lasell before following up with 15 kills against No. 6 Springfield, hitting .407 in the match. He had 17 kills in a huge win over JWU, earning the Saints a home playoff match in the GNAC Quarterfinals. Jackson also contributed 14 digs, five total blocks, two aces and two assists.
On the year, Jackson leads Emmanuel while ranking sixth in the GNAC averaging 3.11 kills per set. The senior has 190 kills on the year to bring him to a career total of 982, just 18 kills shy of becoming the program's fifth member of the Grand Club for kills.
Jackson and the Saints return to action on Tuesday evening in the GNAC Quarterfinals match up against Johnson & Wales University. No. 4 Emmanuel plays host to the No. 5 Wildcats in a 7:00 PM match up at the Jean Yawkey Center Gymnasium. The squads split during their regular season meetings, with JWU capturing a 3-2 win at home on March 26 before the Saints grabbed a 3-1 win at a neutral site location on April 4.
