MEN’S VOLLEYBALL DOWNS REGIS, 3-0
BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-12) victory over Regis College Saturday afternoon at the Jean Yawkey Center Gymnasium. The Saints hit a combined .384 from the floor while holding the Pride to a .121 clip and with the win improves to 2-3 overall on the year. The loss drops Regis to 2-9.

The Saints hit a combined .384 from the floor while holding the Pride to a .121 clip and with the win improves to 2-3 overall on the year. The loss drops Regis to 2-9.
EC set the tone in the opening set with a strong 25-18 showing led by six kills from senior outside hitter Zach Whitermore (Whitehall, Pa.). Emmanuel posted a .444 hitting percentage in the set (12-4-18) while holding Regis to a dismal -.105 clip (6-8-19).
The Pride bounced back in the second frame and had the hosts on the ropes. Leading 24-23, the Pride looked poised to even the match at one set a piece before a service error gave the ball back to the Saints. With the score knotted at 24-24, a Regis attack sailed out of bounds to give Emmanuel a 25-24 lead. Senior outside hitter Ashanti Jackson (Sacramento, Calif.) completed the comeback with a cross court kill to give the Saints a 26-24 win and 2-0 lead in the match. Regis sophomore middle Brandon Tordoff (Coventry, R.I.) recorded four kills in the set.
The third set was all Emmanuel as the Saints dominated play, hitting a gaudy .706 from the floor, recording 13 kills on 17 swings with just one error. Junior reserve Drew Jordan (Braintree, Mass.) enjoyed a breakout set, posting four kills on five swings to go along with a block, dig and ace to end the match.
Whitermore finished with a match-high nine kills while Jackson chipped in with seven. Senior setter Sean Baxley (Saint James, N.Y.) dished out a match-high 35 assists in the win.
Tordoff finished with a team-best eight kills while sophomore setter Joe Hanrahan (Coventry, R.I.) dished out 21 assists.
Emmanuel returns to action tomorrow when they host No. 9 New York University at 12:00 PM. Regis is back on Monday, February 23 when they play host to Lasell College in a 6:00 PM non-conference tilt.
