BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College's Ashanti Jackson was voted the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Volleyball Player of the Week. The honor comes after the junior captain led the Saints to a 3-1 week in conference action, posting wins over Emerson, Wentworth and Albertus Magnus.
The Sacramento, California native averaged a double-figure kill total over his four matches played last week. Jackson swung at a clip of .354 for the week with 51 kills in 96 total attacks. He averaged 3.19 kills, 1.75 digs and 0.81 blocks per set on the week. His overall standout week included smashing down a season-high 19 kills to lead the Saints to a 3-2 win over Wentworth last Thursday night. The outside hitter hit at least .400 in three of his four matches played last week.
Jackson is a three-year starter at Emmanuel and a two-time GNAC All-Conference selection, who has received numerous GNAC accolades over his three-year collegiate career. Just last month, Jackson was honored by the conference, when he was named the GNAC Defensive Player of the Week on February 24th.
Jackson and the Saints will travel to Mount Ida College tonight for a 6:00 PM conference match-up with the Mustangs. Emmanuel will then play host to Lasell College this Thursday night (3/27) at 7:00 PM, before hosting Anna Maria College and Emerson College on Saturday (3/29) in a GNAC tri-match beginning at 12:00 PM.
