MEN'S VOLLEYBALL RANKS 5th IN REGIONAL RANKINGS
BOSTON, Mass. â In the first 2013 NCAA Regional Rankings for Division III men's volleyball, Emmanuel College ranked fifth in the East Region with an 11-12 overall record and 10-7 in-region. Emmanuel is currently 16th in the nation according to the latest AVCA Top 15 poll.
BOSTON, Mass. – In the first 2013 NCAA Regional Rankings for Division III men's volleyball, Emmanuel College ranked fifth in the East Region with an 11-12 overall record and 10-7 in-region. Emmanuel is currently 16th in the nation according to the latest AVCA Top 15 poll.
The Saints have played their most difficult schedule in program-history, facing off against 13 nationally ranked opponents as well as Division I Harvard University.
Emmanuel sits behind Springfield, Baruch, Rivier and MIT in the regional ranking. Springfield boasts the No. 1 rank with a 14-0 in-region mark followed by Baruch who has posted a 20-4 regional record. Rivier, the Saints foes from the GNAC, are ranked third with a 14-5 regional record while MIT is just ahead of the Saints in the fourth spot with an 18-6 in-region record.
The Saints have played six of the 12 regionally ranked teams from the East and West. EC has faced off against Springfield, Rivier, MIT and Kean from the East rankings while battling Nazareth and Stevens from the West.
In the 10 matches against regionally ranked opponents this season, Emmanuel is 2-8. The Saints posted back-to-back wins over MIT and Kean at the Endicott College March Mania tournament this past March. Two of their losses came against No.1 Nazareth and two vs. No. 2 Springfield.
Emmanuel has one regular season match remaining against Albertus Magnus College on Saturday, April 6. The Saints have secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming GNAC tournament and will face off against the winner of the No. 6 vs. No. 3 match up in the GNAC Semifinals on Thursday, April 11.
