MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO JWU, 1-0 IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE

East Providence, R.I. - The Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory against Emmanuel in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at Pierce Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Seniors Joe Ferraro (Freehold, N.J.), Sebastian Bermudez (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) and Stefano Magro (Frankfort, N.Y.) were honored in a ceremony prior to the contest.
The two teams battled back and forth throughout the first half in what proved to be a defensive struggle. Both squads were held to just three shots with the game heading into halftime in a scoreless tie.
After 25 minutes of scoreless play to open the second stanza, Johnson & Wales got on the board when freshman Tyler Gates (Peru, Maine) notched an unassisted goal at the 70:40 mark to propel the Wildcats to the 1-0 victory.
Ferraro had two saves in goal for the Wildcats while junior Wilhelm DuBois (Key Biscayne, Fla.) suffered the setback in goal for Emmanuel.
With the win Johnson & Wales is now 4-10-2, 3-5-1 in league play while Emmanuel falls to 5-9-3 for the year, 3-4-2 in league play.
