Bio

Coach Avila has over twenty years of soccer experience from youth, high school, college and the Boston Honduras Soccer Team. Prior to coming to Emmanuel, he coached the women's soccer team at Bentley college. At Bentley, he guided the women's program to a Northeast-10 Conference Championship in 1998 and was named 1995 Northeast-10 Conference, Women's Soccer Coach of the Year. In 1987, he took the Boston English High School team to the City League Tournament, where they were crowned Champions. For his high school efforts and coaching he was named 1987 Citywide Coach of the Year, Boston Public Schools. As a player, he was a member of the Boston Honduras Soccer Team for 13 years. They won five championships in the Latin American Soccer Association. Coach Avila is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In addition to coaching, Julio is a full-time physical education teacher for the Fenway High School and has been there since 1998. avilaju@emmanuel.edu
