Saints Suffer Tough 3-0 Senior Day Loss to Anna Maria
BOSTON – The Anna Maria AMCATS topped the Emmanuel Saints, 3-0, Saturday afternoon on Saints’ Senior Day at Roberto Clemente Field. The Saints fell to 4-9-1 (3-7-1 GNAC), while the AMCATS advanced to 4-7-1 (4-6-1 GNAC).

BOSTON – The Anna Maria AMCATS topped the Emmanuel Saints, 3-0, Saturday afternoon on Saints' Senior Day at Roberto Clemente Field. The Saints fell to 4-9-1 (3-7-1 GNAC), while the AMCATS advanced to 4-7-1 (4-6-1 GNAC).
Six Emmanuel seniors: Jake Conklin (Guilford, Conn), captain Luke Hines (Bristol, Conn.), Zachary Barown (Colebrook, Conn.), Ryan McKinney (North Reading, Mass.), Connor Pierre (Albany, N.Y.) and Adom Oshagan (Glendale, Calif.) were honored prior to the game's start.
Many scoring opportunities arose for the Saints, outshooting the AMCATS 16 to eight, but Emmanuel failed to capitalize on any of its attempts.
The AMCATS got on the scoreboard early with a goal from Gabe Tellez (East Falmouth, Mass.) in the 15th minute of play. First-year midfielder Nathan Medeiros (Cumberland, R.I.) recorded an assist on the play.
Matthew Pearle (East Wareham, Mass.) netted his third goal of the season on a cross pass from senior midfielder Hezekiah Adeyeye (Woonsocket, R.I.) in the 55th minute of the match.
The third AMCATS goal shortly after Pearle's, in the 61st minute, happened in similar fashion. Adeyeye tallied his second assist of the game, and junior midfielder Rubelsi Moran (Holden, Mass.) scored his sixth goal of the season.
Anna Maria graduate goalie Valter Santiago (Norwood, Mass.) recorded a shutout on the day, advancing to 4-7-1 overall and 4-6-1 in conference play. Santiago made saves on all seven shots on goal he faced.
The Saints continue Great Northeast Athletic Conference play at Dean College at 3:00 p.m. on Oct. 17. The AMCATS continue conference play on the road against Regis College at 6:00 p.m. on Oct. 18.
