NORTH QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team notched a 2-1 victory over Emmanuel Monday evening at Creedon Field to snap a four-match winless skid.
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 2, Emmanuel 1
Records: Lions (4-4-4) | Saints (3-8-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Eastern Nazarene opened the scoring in the eighth minute to nab a 1-0 lead. Nils Hesmer (Herrenburg, Germany) smashed in his second goal of the season as Mattia Zuin (Mexico City, Mexico) picked up an assist.
- The Lions doubled their advantage to 2-0 with a score in the 37th minute. Emilio Magdon (Mexico City, Mexico) headed home his third tally of the year off of a corner kick service from Aitor Iakovlev (Moralzarzal, Spain).
- Emmanuel got on the board in the 52nd minute to cut the deficit to 2-1 as Joe Anderson netted his second goal of the season with a long-range effort.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Gabriel Viau (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) made his sixth start between the sticks and posted two saves.
- Eastern Nazarene concluded the contest with 19 shots while Emmanuel generated 10 attempts on the night.
- First-year Isaiah Etienne made his first career collegiate start, making four stops for the Saints.
- Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) and Emilio Magdon (Mexico City, Mexico) each fired five shots to lead the Lions.
