HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Monks had several scoring opportunities throughout the first half but did not strike until the 44th minute when senior Travis Matheson (Gorham, Maine) netted his first career goal with a header off an Alec Kosinski (East Lyme, Conn.) corner kick.
TEAM STATS:
Saint Joseph's held the lead in shots (16-5) and shots on goal (5-4) while Emmanuel posted a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
THE KEEPERS:
SJC junior Liam Foley (Middleton, Mass.) made four saves to record his fourth shutout of the season while Emmanuel sophomore Maddox Pierce (Meriden, Conn.) steered away three shots in the losing effort.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
With the win Saint Joseph's improves to 15-3-1 all-time versus Emmanuel College and extends the team's winning streak versus the Saints to nine games.
