Men's Soccer Falls 2-1 to New England College in GNAC Play
BOSTON - Emmanuel College (0-2-1 GNAC) fell to the New England College Pilgrims (1-0-2 GNAC) on Thursday evening at Roberto Clemente Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play. The Saints held their own in the first half, keeping the score tied 0-0, before falling 2-1 in the second half.

Pilgrims senior Logan Cassin (Penacook, N.H.) did all the scoring for the visitors on Thursday night. His first goal came in the 50th minute when he beat Saints sophomore goalkeeper Maddox Pierce (Meriden, Conn.) on an assist from Noel Huliselan (Dover, N.H). The Saints were able to equalize 18 minutes later with sophomore Joe Anderson (Tampa, Fla.) tying the game at 1-1 with an assist by Pierre-Paul Labossierre (Port-au-Prince, Haiti).
The Pilgrims persisted, scoring again in the 84th minute with another Cassin goal, set up by a pass to near the penalty spot Anthony Aguiar (Gilford, N.H.) to net his third goal of the season.
The Pilgrims totaled 10 shots in the match, eight of those coming in the second half. Emmanuel got five shots off in the first half, and four in the second. Anderson led the way for the Saints, with three shots, one resulting in his first goal of the season. Cassin tallied six shots, leading the Pilgrims to their first conference win of the season.
Pierce had five saves on seven shots on goal for the Saints while NEC junior goalkeeper Hayden Walker (Manchester, N.H.) had two saves on three shots on goal.
Emmanuel will travel to New London, Conn. this Saturday, September 16, as they take on Mitchell College at 1:00 p.m. for more GNAC action. New England College heads to Keene State for a match on Monday evening, September 18, at 7:00 p.m.
