Men's Soccer Earns 1-1 Draw with Late Goal at Southern Maine
GORHAM, Maine – EC sophomore forward Joey Soucy (Attleboro, Mass.) scored a late goal to lift the Emmanuel College men's soccer team in a 1-1 draw with host University of Southern Maine in a non-conference men’s soccer game Saturday at Hannaford Field.

The Saints have gone unbeaten in their last four contests (2-0-2) while the Huskies are unbeaten in their last three games (1-0-2). Both programs were facing each other for the first time in series history. .

How It Happened:
· In an evenly played game with few offensive opportunities, both teams went into the halftime break scoreless.
· Soucy had the Saints first good look of the second half, firing a shot on goal only to have senior co-captain Hayes Estrella (Kennebunk, Maine/thornton Academy) make a great grab.
· USM freshman David Kita (Portland, Maine/Deering) broke through for the first goal of the game in the 72nd minute knocking in an assist from freshman Josiah Irish (Gorham, Maine) to put the Huskies up 1-0.
· Soucy salvaged the draw for the Saints in the 85th minute after getting sprung free just outside the box before taking a pair of touches and hitting the far post side of net for his sixth goal of the season.

Inside The Stats:
· Soucy has now scored in three of the last four matches for Emmanuel.
· USM had 10 shots to Emmanuel's nine in the contest; however, both teams were even at five shots on goal.
· Southern Maine led in corners, 3-1
· The start for Pierce in net was the first of his collegiate career.

Emmanuel is back on the pitch on Wednesday, October 12 playing host to University of Saint Joseph (CT) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at 7:00 PM. The Huskies return to Little East Conference action on Wednesday (7:00 PM) against Plymouth State University.
