THE LEAD – Four different Saints found the back of the net to propel Emmanuel College past Lasell University, 4-0, Saturday morning in Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's soccer action at Taylor Field on the Lasell campus.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- EC dominated play right from the get-go, taking the lead for good just 2:50 into the action on sophomore forward Joey Soucy's (Attleboro, Mass.) fifth goal of the season to give the visitors an early 1-0 cushion.
- Junior midfielder Adom Oshagan (Glendale, Calif.) doubled the lead in the eighth minute with his first official collegiate goal to make it 2-0.
- Emmanuel only allowed one shot attempt in the first half, outshooting the Lasers by an 11-1 margin in the stanza.
- Senior back Cole Berry (Carver, Mass.) got into the scoring column early in the second half, putting home a pass from fellow defender Luke Hines (Bristol, Conn.) to move the lead to 3-0 in the 53rd minute.
- First year Liam Cook (Oakdale, Conn.) put away the final goal of the contest at the 87:13 marker with Ryan Ragosta (Lincoln, R.I.) earning the assist to finish off the Lasers, 4-0, in GNAC action.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The game-winner for Soucy was his first this season and third of his career at EC.
- Graduate student keeper Vincent Conelli (West Hartford, Conn.) registered his second consecutive shutout, making one save in the win, for his eighth career shutout to move into fourth in program history in clean sheets.
- Emmanuel has not allowed a goal in over 258 minutes.
- Lasell keeper Cameron McDonough (Melrose, Mass.) made seven saves in a losing effort.
